Post-Hysterectomy Essential Shopping List

Post-Hysterectomy Essential Shopping List
Preparing for my hysterectomy has felt both practical and deeply emotional. Gathering these essentials has helped me feel a little more grounded as I get ready for the early days of healing, not to eliminate the hard parts, but to meet them with more support, comfort, and calm.
Here’s what I’m bringing into this next chapter:
- Hysterectomy pillow — for protecting my abdomen on the ride home, and from kids or pets while I recover
- Abdominal binder — to keep my core stable once I start moving around
- Foam sleep wedge set — to rest without straining and to make getting up and down easier
- Walker — for safe, independent bathroom trips during the first few days
- Noise-canceling earbuds — to reduce overwhelm and help with sensory calm in the hospital
- Disposable underwear — so I don’t have to fuss with regular underwear + pads early on
- Gas-X — for post-anesthesia gas pains
- Stool softener + Miralax — to ease the constipation that comes with pain medication
- Compression socks with grippy bottoms — for circulation, clot prevention, and steadiness while walking
These aren’t glamorous items, but they’re the things that help your body feel held while it heals. If you’re preparing for your own surgery, I hope this makes the process feel a little less overwhelming, and a little more supported.
